Pinwheels
Materials
a square of light card (20 x 20 cm)
a straw
a pin or tack
a circle of cardboard (2 cm in diameter) - cut into a flower or circle shape
Scissors - Markers - Pencil - Paints - Glue
How to
1. Take your 20 x 20 cm sheet of light card and draw a diagonal from the top left corner to the bottom right corner and from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. Now you have four triangles. Paint or colour each triangle with a different colour.
2. Now make a hole in the center. Mark points 4cm from the centre hole on each diagonal line. Cut each of the lines from the corner to the 4cm mark. On Diagram A - cut along dotted lines.
3. Start with one corner and bend the paper over to the centre hole. Continue this with each of the 3 other corners. Diagram B.
4. Stick your 2cm flower or circle over the centre. Gently use a pin or tack to secure. On the back of your pinwheel, dab some pva glue and attach a straw to the pin/ tack. Secure with sticky tape if needed. If the straw is attached to tighly, the pinwheel will not spin.
To have extra points on the pinwheel, repeat steps 1 to 3 on a second piece of light card.
